Drug Addiction: 28-yr-old man murders parents, sister in Yobe
A 28-year-old drug addict has been arrested for stabbing his parents and two sisters to death in Yobe.
A 28-year-old man said to be a
know drug addict, threw the Batayya Ward in Potiskum, the capital of
Yobe State, when he ran amok and murdered his parents and his two sisters in cold blood.
The suspect, Adamu Mai-Bisco, according to the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Toyin Gbadegesin, was under the influence of hard drugs including Tramadol and Indian Hemp, when he committed the murders.
The names of the family members Adamu killed were his father, Malam Magaji Mai-Bisco, 65, his mother, Mama Ado, 50, his younger sisters, Aisha, 16 and Zainab,14, who all been buried according to Islamic rights.
A witness to the gruesome incident identified as Malam Ibrahim, said Adamu came out of the house with a shovel and jack knife and said he had wiped out his family.
"He
told me that 'na gama da su' meaning 'I have finished them.' I asked
what he meant by that, and he started chasing me with the knife. He was
intercepted by good Samaritans, bundled and handed over to police around
1:00am."
Another version of the story holds
that, the parents had threatened to report to suspect to security
agents for allegedly being a member of Boko Haram hence his action
against.
“I gathered that the parents said they will report him to security as a Boko Haram. He did not take that threat lightly and so decided to killed them while they were all asleep,” a source informed.
ASP Gbadegesin, in a statement, said that the offence was committed under section 221 of the penal code law.
“Culpable
homicide contrary to penal code law section 221, offence committed by
Adamu Mai Bisco, 28yrs old of Bataiya area of Potiskum, Yobe State.
Apparently
he under the influence of hard drugs of Marijuana and Tramol capsules,
the suspect without any provocation as the victims were fast asleep,
pick up up a shovel attacked and killed his father, mother and 2
sisters. The incident took place at about 1.00am.
Upon
the receipt of a distress call, police moved in and arrested the
suspect, recovered the exhibit and the suspect is still being
interrogated.
Interim investigation reports revealed that the suspect is a drug addict as he confessed to have consumed illicit drugs," Gbadegesin said.
